Discovery NotesIt was a soil sample collected near a tree in front of the Cupples II building on Washington University’s Danforth campus near Throop Drive. The weather was sunny, but a little shaded in the area of collection due to the tree’s leaves, and the ambient temperature was approximately 77 degrees on September 26, 2020. The sample consisted of slightly wet soil, full of organic matter, and was gathered from approximately 2 inches below the surface.

Plaque NotesThe plaques themselves varied in size, ranging from tiny circles to more prevalent ones, but had similar shapes in being circular, although some were slightly jagged around the edges with a more elongated oval shape. However, the majority of the plaques were circular. The plaques were also clear and not cloudy in their appearance.
