Discovery NotesThe soil sample was retrieved from moist, organic topsoil surrounded by bricks and a dripping pipe at the base of the William and Mary West Utility Plant. The day of collection was humid with light rain and no sunlight. The drops of the dripping pipe were falling directly underneath onto a broken brick path. Since the bricks were cracked, much of the water seeped through directly into the soil beside it. Additionally, there was a plethora of green vegetation by the spot the soil was collected. About 3 tablespoons of soil was collected from 5.1 centimeters down from the surface.
Naming NotesNeoh was inspired by and named after Neo from the Matrix. In the Matrix, Neo symbolizes emergence, awakening, disrupted systems, and the unexpected. By attacking bacteria and disrupting microbial systems, Neoh perfectly embodies the character of Neo.
