Discovery Notes | The soil sample was collected from a flower garden. The soil was dark brown and moist and dug about 2 in. from the ground. Soil was collected on 9/11/2023. |
Naming Notes | Ibrahim Abdulrehman and Preston Penny isolated DoobyDoo. We were inspired by the American animated cartoon series Scooby-Doo, with its central theme of investigation, and named our phage after the main protagonist Scoobert “Scooby” Doo. Much like on the show, the Mystery Incorporated gang is always asking, "Scooby Doo, where are you?" There was a struggle to isolate a phage sample successfully. It had us asking, "Phage sample, where are you?" Thus, the name DoobyDoo was created! |
