| Discovery Notes | Using Protocol 5.1 Collecting Environmental Samples, soil was collected from The Colony, Texas (33.0486°N, 96.9191°W) in order to isolate a bacteriophage. The air temperature surrounding the soil at time 17:28 when soil was retrieved was 93°F. The soil appeared a little moist around below the surface while at the surface, it was dry and flaky (Figure 0). Many organisms such as worms and other insects were found near the soil collection site. I dug 4 cm below the surface to collect the soil and placed it with a clean spoon into a plastic sandwich bag. The sample was named "Colony" soil. |
| Naming Notes | I chose Legacy because I have been obsessed with the name since I was in middle school. I plan to name my first born daughter Legacy and I want her to know that she was named after the phage I discovered. |
