| Discovery Notes | -Discovered in a moist bank of a canal leading into a creek. -Removed vegetation to expose soft soil, with green moss overgrown on the surface. -Runoff from canal comes from storm drain systems within residential area. -Canal leads out into OSO Creek with high vegetation and then runs out into Corpus Christi bay. -Construction 25m from original isolation site. -Weather conditions: Partly Cloudy, Breezy, est. Temp 95F -Water conditions: Green, Slow current and Visibility 1/2ft to 1ft . -Wildlife: Small schools of mullet, mosquitos, and common insects found around river banks in S. Texas. |
| Naming Notes | -Nanosmite's name derives from two meanings. -Nano is to described the unit of measurement to determine the Phage's size. Smite- meaning to destroy, was named bases on the a highly active lytic cycle. |
