Discovery NotesI "adopted" Sneeze from Joseph Skibbens, a member of my SEA Phages course. Since I consistently did not get plaques on any of my plates, I obtained a plaque from one of Joseph's plates that had two plaques with very different morphologies. At the time the soil was collected in early January, the temperature was 85 degrees Fahrenheit and it was taken at a depth of 0.5". It was collected from a recently dried-up marsh.
Naming NotesI named Sneeze after the nickname my family gave to my dog.

Plaque NotesThe plaques are usually 1-2 mm in diameter, with turbid (but not very cloudy) centers. These plaques are surrounded by a very turbid "halo" that can easily be seen when held up to a light source. When left in the incubator, these "halos" can grow in diameter (about 1 mm after the 72 hour test).
