| Plaque Notes | The Cullens plaques tend to be clear in the center and more turbid around the edges. The plaques also consistently appear in two sizes: the larger ones tend to have a diameter around 20 mm (some just greater than 10 mm, but none greater 20mm) and the smaller ones had a diameter of about 10 mm. Often, in less dilute plates, the smaller plaques are conjoined to/on the side of the bigger plaques. Some pinpoint plaques were also observed in my Plaque Assays.
Based on the EM images of Cullens, the morphotype is Siphoviridae. The tail is characterized as long, flexible, and non-contractile. Cullens also has an isometric head. The head to tail ratio measured for Cullens is a 1:3 ratio. |
