Discovery NotesThe soil sample was collected from a compost pile with the help of my four-year-old sister Rania. The compost, taken from 2-8 centimeters below the ground, was filled with pumpkin shell and seed fragments. It was collected on 2025-10-06 at 8am, and the temperature was 19 Celsius. Isolation commenced the same day at 1pm.
After two rounds of purification, two phage were discovered in the same sample, differentiated by different plaque sizes. This is the smaller of the two; the other is named Beren.
Naming NotesLuthien (Sindarin for "daughter of flowers") was the daughter of the Maia Melian. Her secondary name, Tinuviel, means "nightingale."
