Discovery Notes | The phage was found in soil that was damp, cool, dense, and had organic matter scattered in and around the soil. This soil sample was located near tree roots, in a shaded area, and had many trees around the soil. |
Naming Notes | This phage was named Delphidian as a combination of the words Delphinus and ophidian, as a homage to the constellations Delphinus (dolphin) and Ophiuchus (snake catcher). Since the phage produced plaques that, if connected, looked like a constellation, this name seemed fitting. |

Plaque Notes | The plaques appear with a defined center and a less turbid halo, both with somewhat defined edges. There is a visible color difference between the center and halo of the plaque. The majority of the plaques made by this phage are around the same size, with some smaller deviations in size occurring. |
