Discovery Notes | The soil sample was collected outside of the PharmTox Center at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. With Starbucks coffee in hand, the sample was taken from a planting box full of flowers and other plants and was about 2 cm deep in moist soil. |
Naming Notes | Dating back to the olden days, people often referred to inanimate, genderless objects as "she/her" (think old ships). We have continued this in our daily loves, calling everything "she/her". When we discovered our phage, we thought it would be fitting to continue the tradition. Thus, Shee was born |

Plaque Notes | The phage appears to be temperate as evident by the turbid/bullseye plaques. On plates of higher concentration, the plaques appeared small and turbid, but when they were on lower concentrations they spread out and formed bullseyes.
UPDATE: After sending Shee for sequencing, we have learned our phage is classified as lytic. Her plaques remain a mystery! |
