Discovery NotesThis phage was isolated from a sewer ditch at the Farmington Wastewater Treatment Plant in Farmington, Maine.
Naming NotesIn our initial attempt to isolate a phage, we took samples from a dead squirrel that we found alongside a road. If successful in isolating a phage from this sample, we planned to name it RoadKill. Well, we didn't get a phage from that sample, so we're naming this one RoadKill in honor of the dead squirrel that helped us in our Phage Hunter's journey. Rest in peace, little squirrel.
