Discovery NotesSoil sample collected on January 20, 2018 in Manchester, New Hampshire at the Manchester Waste Water Treatment Plant approximately ten feet from the stage two treatment tanks. The soil was frozen at the time of collection and very damp from the layer of snow once covering it. The sample was also very coarse and rocky, dark in color, and contained a few strands of grass which were scraped up with the soil during collection.
Naming NotesThe small size of the plaques it forms along with a family nickname of "Smurph" inspired the nomenclature for this phage.
