Discovery NotesNaomi isolated the phage from mulchy soil after a short rain period. The soil sample was collected approximately 4 meters from Planetary hall and 6 meters from the entrance to Exploratory hall.
Naming NotesThe Typhon is a mythological creature in Greek mythology. It is known for being the last and greatest battle of Zeus in his claim to the ruler of the Gods. We spent 4 weeks trying to isolate this phage and have met struggles of contamination of the bacteria and media as well as poor amplification of the phage. Given this is our Senior year, we found this a fitting name.
