Discovery NotesGroup members' names are Dhriti Cagathi, Anshi Bhatnagar, and Rae Yang. The soil, found on August 26th, 2024, was collected right outside a dorm hall (Sutherland Hall) on University of Pittsburgh's campus where a few bushes were planted, and it had some mulch pieces combined with slightly damp, soft, dark brown soil that was below the mulch layer. The environment was a sun-based location, and it was ~90 degrees F. There was little to no difficulty filtering the sample, as there were a few mulch pieces.
Naming NotesThe name "Radical" was created from the first letters of each group member's first names (R for Rae, A for Anshi, and D for Dhriti). We then ended on Radical, with "rad" being the root word.
