Discovery Notes | The soil came from a backyard in Grapevine, TX situated under a tree. The soil had a sand-like texture or feel. There are several small clumps within the sample. The soil sample was collected within the first inch of the top layer. The sample was collected at approximately at 7:00 pm on 8/24/14. The temperature was approximately 80 degrees Fahrenheit outside during the time of sample collection. |
Naming Notes | The name of the phage is based upon the sword that was in the stone that could only be removed by the true king, Arthur Pendragon. Since the name Excalibur was already taken by a mycobacteriophage, we used Caliburn which is another version of Excalibur in the King Arthur story |
