Discovery Notes | The soil was collected in the garden near the natural science building at SUNY Old Westbury, was full of organic matter and it was fertilized soil. There were wood chips on top, and we cleared them out to collect the sample. |
Naming Notes | We named our phage Turab because it means dirt in Arabic, التراب, which was the origin of our phage sample. |

Plaque Notes | We have identified one morphology of a plaque associated with the lytic cycle. One morphology consistent in each plaque. This morphology is characterized by circular, clear plaques with a well-defined, transparent border observed on the agar plates. The diameter of our plaques was 3.6 ± 0.55 mm. The titer that we eventually calculated was 2.52 x 10^10 PFU/mL from our 10-6 plate. |
