| Discovery Notes | My sample was taken by a tree in Longview, Texas from LeTourneau University on August 29, 2017 around 8:15 a.m.
The soil was still a little damp from it being the morning. The tree had many protruding roots coming out of the ground covering the nearby soil. I dug in between these roots, right next to the tree. The soil was in the middle of patches of moss, but the soil I collected contained no moss. The soil was also pretty sandy in nature, but was a little thicker as I dug. It was also rocky, with little rocks covering the soil that I collected. I only dug down an inch or two at most when collecting my soil. My sample came from the upper surfaces of the ground. As I mentioned before, the soil sample I collected was a little thicker and damper, than the surface soil which was more sandy and rocky. |
| Naming Notes | I named this phage from the street name that I found it on. The tree that I collected my soil near, is located at the corner by our science lab building. The building that our science lab is located in is named Glaske. The street name that this tree is on is also named Glaske. Therefore, using these two criteria, I named by phage Glaske. |
