| Discovery Notes | Collection time: 10:55 am EST Conditions: partly cloudy, but sunny blue sky, the previous day was warm and rainy. Soil quality: very soft and moist from the rain, not clay-like or sandy, some organic material present.
Protocol: Using a small, inside out, ziplock bag as a glove, I collected a handful of lose soil from the ground near a dumpster behind an auto shop near my home. I collected soil from the surface level to about an inch down in the ground. I wanted the freshest sample possible, so I collected the sample as I was leaving to go to the lab. The soil was stored at room temperature for about an hour and half before being prepared for the shaker. |
| Naming Notes | My grandmother's middle name is Adora and I have always loved this name. She turned 93 years old the same day that Adora was first isolated. |
