| Discovery Notes | Phage was found in a borough of Pittsburgh called South Oakland in an alley underneath a trash can by L Tesche. Phage JCole was on the same purification plate as phage Turkey. The plaque chosen was of a different morphology than phage Turkey, however, restriction digest supports that these phage are duplicates and no DNA was isolated for phage Turkey. | Naming Notes | We chose JCole as the name of our phage. The name of our phage came from a well-known artist who released the song "Middle Child". During the process of purifying of our phage, we viewed the difficulties we experienced as comparable as the behavior of a middle child. |
