Discovery NotesPhage was found in a borough of Pittsburgh called South Oakland in an alley underneath a trash can by L Tesche. Phage JCole was on the same purification plate as phage Turkey. The plaque chosen was of a different morphology than phage Turkey, however, restriction digest supports that these phage are duplicates and no DNA was isolated for phage Turkey. DNA extraction and restriction digest was performed by A. Morita, J. Noh, J. Ruit, J. Wang,
Naming NotesWe chose JCole as the name of our phage. The name of our phage came from a well-known artist who released the song "Middle Child". During the process of purifying of our phage, we viewed the difficulties we experienced as comparable as the behavior of a middle child.
