Naming NotesThe name Filch was given because none of the environmental samples that had been personally collected produced an isolated phage. An extra plate from a colleague that yielded plaques was "filched" with permission and purification proceeded.
Filch is also the nickname given to a past dog.

Plaque NotesFilch was isolated, and purified at 32 degrees Celsius. After 24 hours Filch exhibited clear plaques with diameter just below one millimeter. Filch continued to grow until 72 hours when it attained a plaque 3-4 millimeters in diameter.
After 48 hours of incubation, a turbid half ring appeared around the clear plaque.

Filch was incubated at 42 and 32 degrees Celsius. Plaques grew at 32 as well as 42, though Filch may be sensitive to the higher temperature.
