| Discovery Notes | The location where the soil was collected is a vegetable garden, which grows tomatoes, squash, green beans, and peas. The soil was initially disturbed by a shovel. After four passes with the shovel, sampling was started. The hole dug to collect the sample was approximately 3-4 inches deep. The soil was sold and compact, as it had just rained. The shovel was used to loosen the soil. The tube given in class was used as a vessel to directly scoop up approximately 20mL of soil. The tube was then labeled with the names of the group members, the time that it was collected (6:00 pm) and the date (September 18, 2022). The ambient temperature for the day was 83°F and the relative humidity was 45%. The soil was collected one day before the isolation was started and was refrigerated for 20 hours before isolation began. |
| Naming Notes | Named after the students who discovered the phage. |
