Discovery Notes | Baee was found in the small forest area behind the Frick Fine Arts Building on the University of Pittsburgh campus. The soil was slightly dry, dark brown in color, and shaded by many trees at the time of extraction. Weather conditions were warm and the soil was collected about an inch from the surface of the area. |
Naming Notes | Baee was named after the phrase "bae" which is the title that one may give their significant other rather than pet-names like "babe" or "baby." For example, one may say, "it's so nice to see you today, bae." |

Plaque Notes | Phage Baee creates plaques on a Mycobacterium smegmatis lawn that are overall <1mm in size, circular in shape, and clear in appearance. Baee was subjected to 8 rounds of purifications preformed by infecting Mycobacterium smegmatis with Baee particles diluted 100-fold and plating on 7H10 agar prior to a 30oC incubation for 48 hours.
