| Discovery Notes | Found in area around 2ft from the edge of a stream on LeTourneau University’s main campus. There was a lot of vegetation surrounding the area and was mostly shaded. There was a lot of insect activity, fallen trees, and litter in the area. A small hole about 3-5 inches deep was dug to access soil without organic matter throughout it. Soil texture was fairly damp to the touch, but still crumbly when dug up. |
| Naming Notes | Name was inspired by the movie Kung Fu Panda. We realized just how strong our phage was very early in in the process. After many lab technical difficulties, we learned that Po was able to survive even with half the normal nutrients necessary for his survival. This strength reminded us of the main character, Master Ping Xiao Po, in the Kung Fu Panda movies. |
