Discovery NotesTaken from Planter 21 from UNLV community garden from wet soil. The sample was isolated using Direct Isolation.
Naming NotesChipette was originally Chip however that name was taken as of this year and
Chip came from Chip and Dale from the 1947 children's cartoon created by Walt Disney Productions in 1943. The Scientists Khadija and Ciera who discovered Chipette isolated two phages with different morphology so they named one Chip and the other Dale.

Plaque NotesChipette's morphology is that of a temperate or lysogenic phage with a plaque diameter of 0.5mm. Chipette's plaques are constantly growing into each other so true diameter is not entirely known so the smallest diameter measured was chosen to represent the phage.
