| Discovery Notes | Discovered in spring 2012 by Team Pirates of the CURE-ibbean: Tiffany Chow, Josephine Nguyen, Sean Chang, and Khristina Ipapo.
BeanWater was isolated from an enrichment culture inoculated with a water sample from Stone Canyon Creek behind the UCLA Anderson School of Management. The sample was collected on April 4, 2012, by another student in the same class, Nick Morales.
DNA preparation was performed by Dr. Krisanavane Reddi (UCLA). The genome was assembled by William Villella (UCLA) and the assembly was curated by Dan Russel from the University of Pittsburgh.
Beanwater was annotated in Fall of 2013 by Teams: Fly Like a T4 (Amrit Dosanjh, Jaskirat Dhanoa, Jasmine Gajeton, Alex Tonthat), Tranducers ( Conny Tran, Stephanie Vu, Cheng Tian, Kyoko Yamaguchi), and Where the Wild Things Are. The genome was curated in Spring 2014 by Amrit Dosanjh and Jordan Meyer. |
