Discovery NotesJezreel was collected at 6:48p.m. CDT on Monday, August 26, 2024, from a neighborhood in Longview, Texas, near a pond from a turmeric garden with compost. The ambient temperature was 32.2ºC with a humidity level of 43%. A 3-inch hole was dug with a garden shovel. The extracted soil sample was damp, dark, and rich in organic matter. The soil was then placed in a Ziploc bag and refrigerated overnight before processing the sample for virus isolation on the morning of Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
Naming NotesThe name Jezreel was chosen because our lab group agreed that the Lord had blessed our collection of our bacteriophage from the soil. Jezreel is the Hebrew word for "God sows," and the Lord has made our sample successful and provided us with a satisfactory virus.
