Discovery Notes | The phage we isolated was from a park in down town duluth. The location was surrounded by streets on all sides and had a playground within 300 feet. It was a grassy, and damp area near trees. I isolated the phage around 12:00am; the night was cloudy, foggy and colder (around 40*F) which made the soil sample very damp. |
Naming Notes | A blend of the Taiga forest near where I found my phage and zygote cause our phage was one of a kind. |

Plaque Notes | Our phage that we isolated are very small, clear plaques and this shows to be very consistent throughout our purification and empirical testing. From my observations in the past 2 months I have come to a conclusion that my plaque seems to be a lytic phage (of course there is no certainty in that but it has shown no expression of temperate characteristics). Our phage is very slow growing and can be somewhat difficult to work with, but our plates have come out very consistent. |
