Plaque Notes | Plaques were originally very small (approx. 1mm) and turbid when phages were left to infect M. smegmatis at 37 degrees Celsius, but it was discovered that they developed an opaque, shadowy region surrounding each plaque upon spending excessive time at cold temperatures (4 degrees Celsius). This shadowy region was distinct from the plaques and was confirmed by a repeated trial. It was also confirmed that said regions were not present after undergoing regular incubation at 37 degrees. Picture provided is of a plate that was not subjected to colder temperatures. |
