| Discovery Notes | The collection site was in between two trees, about 3.5 feet (1 meter) from each tree. The soil was a deep brown and moist. The temperature was about 75° F (24°C).
Gp 73 and 74 both have alignment to immunity repressor, but neither is complete. This appears to be the result of an insertion that causes a frameshift, hence an overlap of ~182bp between the two genes. Since amino acids 57-169 of gp 73 are homologous to the immunity repressor in related phages (Quinnkirro, Margo, Texage, Todacorro), this gene has been called as "immunity repressor, truncated." Gp 74, which aligns 1:1 with immunity repressor in same phage phages, but only for the first 54 amino acids, has been called as "Hypothetical Protein." It is unlikely that a functional immunity repressor is made, which reflects the clear plaque morphology observed. |
