Discovery Notes | The collection site was approximately 10 feet from a campus building and approximately 4 feet away from a tree. There was a major road nearby the collection site and a sidewalk less than 10 feet away, therefore there was a lot of foot traffic near the sample site. The soil sample was dry, although there was sporadic rain in the area on the day the sample was taken. The sample was taken from a small ditch that had rotting acorns and leaves in it. |
Naming Notes | The name that I chose is the Haitian Creole word for queen. I chose this name because whenever I introduce myself to people, they always comment on how my last name should be Queen instead of King. I chose to use Haitian Creole because my family and I help sponsor an orphanage in Haiti. Also Larenn has the same pronunciation as my sister's name, although her name is spelled differently. |

Characterization |
Cluster | A |
Subcluster | A2 |
Cluster Life Cycle | Temperate |
Lysogeny Notes | Because of the turbid plaques produced by this phage, it is suspected that Larenn is temperate. |

Annotating Institution | Unknown or unassigned |
Annotation Status | In GenBank |
Plaque Notes | The plaque morphology never differed from the time the enrichment was plated. The plaques are circles with a diameter of approximately 1.00 millimeter. They were extremely turbid and difficult to capture in pictures. The picture shown was created through side illumination and a very high contrast. Plaques formed after 22 hours of incubation at 37°C. |
