Discovery NotesCollection of the sample occurred at 7:02 AM on Tuesday, August 25, 2020. The site was in full shade at this time and the surrounding ground was covered in a significant layer of dew. The location had not received rain in the prior week, but due to the nature of organic composting, the interior of the collection site had significant moisture content.
Naming NotesAs we progressed through the purification and amplification process, this phage began to demonstrate two distinct morphologies. After confirming that this wasn't a purity issue, it was determined that our phage had mutated and was showing both lytic and lysogenic properties. Because of this, we derived the name "duplo" meaning "double" in Latin.
