Discovery Notes | The phage was discovered in my backyard garden soil which contains cow manure, compost, and other organic and natural fertilizers such as kelp. Growing in the garden are tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, and onions. Soil was obtained from the surface which was dry and from slightly below the surface which was slightly moist. The phage was discovered from both a direct plating and an enrichment spot test. Air temp 33°C. |
Naming Notes | The phage is named after both of my parents, Beata and Elkin, and may also stand for the beacon of hope or "the Beakin of Hope" |
